Help Keep Sibarunun Clean
Donation amounts are in U.S. dollars (USD), not Indonesian rupiah (IDR).
Support a community-led shoreline cleanup in Indonesia’s Telo Islands. MRM works with local residents to collect, sort, and document debris, and arrange recycling and disposal.
Your gift supports paid local cleanup work, supplies, waste transport, and responsible handling.

PRELIMINARY PHOTO-TRANSECT ESTIMATE
A substantial cleanup, one shoreline at a time
About 1.63 metric tons (3,600 lb)
Our preliminary island-wide estimate is approximately 1,630 kg (3,600 lb) of shoreline debris. It combines photo-transect observations with an approximately 4.0 km (2.5 mi) mapped shoreline.
The heavily affected 100 m (328 ft) stretch is estimated at about 7.44 kg/m (5.00 lb per linear foot), for roughly 744 kg (1,640 lb). The remaining approximately 3,900 m (2.4 mi) are estimated at about 0.227 kg/m (0.152 lb per linear foot), for roughly 885 kg (1,950 lb).
Planning estimate, not a weighed inventory. Shoreline length was calculated from the OpenStreetMap coastline enclosing Sibaranun village (way 669015053; approximately 4.01 km (2.49 mi)), rounded to 4.0 km (2.5 mi) for this estimate. Shoreline detail, tides, and debris distribution affect accuracy. Recorded cleanup weights will help refine the estimate.
What the photos suggest
Approximately half of the visible debris is plastic bottles and rigid containers; about one-third is flexible plastics and packaging. Metal, glass, and miscellaneous waste make up the remainder. These are approximate visual proportions, not measured shares by weight.
